What is Search and Rescue?
Search and Rescue (SAR) is a coordinated effort by trained individuals to locate and assist persons who by accident or circumstances have found themselves in a dangerous or life-threatning situation that they are unable to facilitate their own rescue. SAR also includes recovery.
Elko County Search and Rescue trains SAR team skills monthly and promotes training of individual skills.
SAR Personnel are more than "boots and eyes" and comprise a team of individuals trained to help their fellow man.

* Active membership requires finger printing and is conditional on passing a federal background check and a peer-group review.
Although ESCAR is attached to the Sheriff's Office, SAR members are neither required to qualify for, nor provide armed/unarmed law enforcement services.
